In an attempt to create a simple furniture concept, I came across this interesting design. This piece of furniture is called an “infinity table.” As you can see it is one continual element which creates a unique look to the table, but also acts as the framework. After planning out the path and creating a modified version of the original structure, capturing a realistic function to form was my first challenge. Once I was able to get a satisfactory appearance to the framework, I added a component which gave the piece a clean, but robust look to it. A thick raised glass top with chrome fasteners seemed to be an obvious choice. The terracotta vases were added for accent to enhance the overall style.
The table was modeled in 3D Studio Max and rendered with Arnold. I used PBR texture maps for the model but created the terracotta textures for the vases with Photoshop. Ultimately my inspiration was to create a piece which demonstrates a balance of clean lines, minimal design with a high-end appeal.
